About Ted

My family first moved to Mercer Island 40 years ago, attracted by the quiet, safe and beautiful neighborhoods, the best schools in the state, and the friendly, welcoming people. I attended South Mercer Junior High and MIHS class of ’86. I went on to earn a degree in Architecture and study Computer Science at the University of Virginia. I earned my MBA, mid-career, from the UW.

I have worked in the information technology industry for 30 years, at Fortune 500 software firm, a mid-size consulting firm, a small startup, and for the past 4 years at the IT department for the City of Seattle.

My wife and I have lived on the south end since we were married in 1993. We have raised two children through Mercer Island schools. They are both in their 20’s.

I am in my second term serving on the Mercer Island Planning Commission and find public service to be very challenging and rewarding! I have volunteered with the school band and chess club and helped with our covid response by making masks.  I enjoy running, biking, hiking, opera, theater, chess, and role-playing games.
